When I was 16, I picked up The Light Ages at a local bookstore because, I am ashamed to say, the cover looked cool. That and the cover blurb compared it to Philip Pullman and China Mieville. Regardless of what drew me to it, The Light Ages became one of the defining novels of my youth. This past summer, 4 years later, while at a workshop for young sf/f/h writers, I stumbled across The House of Storms. And what a beautiful novel it is. It reminded me of what made me want to pick up a pen in the first place.
Thank you for writing. Your stories, long and short, are inspiring.

The Light Ages ranks alongside Mieville's Iron Council, Swanwick's The Iron Dragon's Daughter and Keith Robert's Pavane as THE seminal work in steampunk.
House of Storms is a lot more disjointed and ponderous but I can't recall a more atmospheric novel - it's the steampunk equivalent of The Return of the Native!
Please keep venturing into novel length steampunk.
